About Nicholas Kristof
American journalist and author, Nicholas Kristof, was born in Oregon in 1959. He lived on a sheep and cherry farm. After high school, Kristof went off to work in France and then went backpacking throughout Africa and Asia. He traveled to over 150 countries and reported on six continents. He graduated from Harvard College and studied law at Oxford University. He is currently writes op-ed columns for the New York Times.
The Washington Post claims that he “rewrote opinion journalism”. President Bill Clinton recognizes him for exposing the real conditions of the poor and oppressed in many parts of the world. He is highly recognized for his focus on human rights and social injustices. Nicholas Kristof won two Pulitzer Prizes for journalism and other awards like the George Polk Award and the Online News Association Award. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation credit their focus on global health to one of Kristof’s articles on child deaths in developing countries.
